It’s safe to say people missed March Madness last year.
The ratings for March Madness this time around are through the roof. CBS and TBS, who have jointly aired the Sweet 16, are reporting their best viewership in nearly three decades. The ratings spike comes despite the lack of college basketball powerhouses like North Carolina, Kansas, Kentucky, and Duke participating.
TV insiders add the fact that the Sweet 16 was held on Saturday and Sunday instead of its customary Thursday-Friday slot likely helped boost ratings. The Final Four games air this Saturday with the National Championship tipping off Monday evening.
