A familiar name is returning to the Milwaukee Bucks organization as an assistant coach.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski first broke the news that Josh Oppenheimer would be joining Mike Budenholzer’s staff in Brew City. He served as a big influence on Giannis in his early years with the organization, and previously was employed under both the Larry Drew and Jason Kidd regimes. Oppenheimer was most recently a shooting coach at James Madison University, and prior to that was with the Houston Rockets and then the Brooklyn Nets’ G-League team.
SB Nation wrote an article on the move earlier today, and notes that while working with Oppenheimer, Giannis had his best shooting percentage in his career with 34.7% of his shots made during the Greek Freak’s rookie season. Many fans and media types like to comment on Giannis’s suspect shooting from anywhere outside the paint recently, and so we’ll see if the re-addition of Oppenheimer helps out in any way.
