Packers To Sign Tavon Austin

By Adam Roberts – 12/1/2020

The Packers are bringing in a 2013 Top 10 draft pick that has some familiarity with the Matt LaFleur coaching style.

Green Bay is set to sign wide receiver and special teamer Tavon Austin this week ahead of their game Sunday against Philadelphia. Austin spent his first five years with the St. Louis/LA Rams, and in his last year with the club LaFleur was the team’s offensive coordinator. Between 2017 and 18 Austin caught 21 passes for 317 yards and three touchdowns for the Cowboys, and was most recently with the 49ers, but he never played for San Francisco after going on IR this summer.

Tyler Ervin remains injured for Green Bay, so Austin’s presence could indicate a desire to move on from Darrius Shepherd in the return game. Shepherd has returned 11 kicks this year for 227 yards.
