The wait continues for UWL men’s and women’s winter sports, but today the WIAC announced when they were hoping for sports to return.
In a statement, the conference announced their plans to resume winter sports in February. “The plan requires all WIAC institutions to secure testing for student-athletes, support staff and game officials,” the release said, “in order to provide safe competition environments during the COVID-19 pandemic. This strategy may need to be adjusted due to the ever-changing conditions of the pandemic”.
Winona State has plans to return early next year as well, so it seems winter sports will be in full swing by Valentine’s Day at least.
