Aaron Jones has a new agent today, taking to Twitter to announce he was now working with Drew Rosenhaus, who notably also represents players like Antonio Brown, Rob Gronkowski, Tyreek Hill, and LeSean McCoy, and in the past has worked with people like Chad Johnson, Frank Gore, Warren Sapp, and Terrell Owens.
Rosenhaus has a reputation as one of the most aggressive agents in the NFL, constantly chasing top dollar amounts by any means necessary. This may not bode well for Packer fans who want Jones to stay with the team post-2020, when he’ll become a free agent. The old mantra is to never pay big money for running backs due to their low shelf life overall in the NFL, but Jones IS currently in the middle of the best season-and-a-half stretch of his career; last year he rushed for 1,084 yards and 16 scores, and this year so far he’s gone for 823 yards and seven touchdowns with three games to play.
We’ll see if Jones is able to command the kind of money Christian McAffrey earned earlier this year when he signed a four-year, 64 million dollar extension.
