Vikings’ George Paton Becomes Denver GM

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Broncos have found the man who will replace John Elway as GM with Elway relinquishing the role this offseason.

Assistant Vikings GM George Paton was the candidate to beat coming into the week, and now has secured the Denver GM job over candidates like Bears assistant director of player personnel Champ Kell and New Orleans director of pro scouting Terry Fontenot.

Paton has 14 seasons of work with Minnesota, and alongside GM Rick Spielman the Vikings have gone 79-63-2 since 2012. Paton was a hot target for teams this offsesaon, having been considered a top target for the open Detroit head coaching position.
