UWL Baseball Falls To UW-Whitewater In WIAC Tournament; Plays This Evening vs Stout/Stevens Point

By Adam Roberts – 5/21/2021

The UWL baseball team was on the winning side of some walk-off magic against Platteville on Wednesday. Today, the magic worked against the Eagles.

Against #5 Whitewater in the WIAC Tournament today, Eagle pitcher Zach Pronschinske pitched from start to finish but gave up three home runs in the process. One of those came off the bat of Sam Vomhof with one out in the bottom of the ninth over the left field wall for a 5-4 Warhawk win. Apart from the three home runs, UWL held the statistical advantage throughout most of the game, outhitting the Warhawks 13 to 8 and committing no errors to Whitewater’s one. But Eagle batters also struck out nine times and 11 Eagle baserunners were left stranded compared to five and eight respectively for Whitewater.

The Eagles now wait and see who they will face in a win or go home contest this evening. It will be either Stout or Stevens Point, with those teams just getting their match up started.
