Packers Re-Sign QB Jake Dolegala

By Adam Roberts – 8/17/2021

It’s looking more and more like Packer quarterback Jordan Love won’t be seeing many, if any, reps this weekend against the Jets.

ESPN’s Rob Demovsky and others reports the team has re-signed QB Jake Dolegala, who was previously with the Packers along with veteran Blake Bortles during minicamp while Aaron Rodgers held out of things. A corresponding move will have to be made by the team, since the roster must be at 85 players as of today.

Love sustained a shoulder injury in the preseason opener Saturday against Houston, and while his initial prognosis was leaning towards the issue being minor, the team’s cautious approach may indicate otherwise. Coach Matt LaFleur indicated that there’s no long-term concern but that Love might miss some time. He was held out of practice on Monday, and the team did not practice on Tuesday. LaFleur said today Love could “potentially” play against the Jets Saturday afternoon.

New York arrives tomorrow for joint practices Wednesday and Thursday.
