The Vikings have their initial 53-man roster set, and it includes a new tight end to replace the injured Irv Smith.
Chris Herndon is on his way to Minnesota after the Vikings cut a deal with the Jets for the fourth-year pro, sending a 2022 fourth-round pick to New York. Minnesota also received a sixth-round pick in next year’s draft. Herndon caught 31 passes for 287 yards and three touchdowns in 2021.
The Vikings also said hello again to defensive end Everson Griffen; he had been cut earlier this week but today was confirmed to be back on the Vikings roster along with long snapper Andrew DePaola.
Minnesota can begin making waiver claims on other teams’ cut players to further deepen the roster.
