UWL Football Ranked 22nd In D3 Coaches’ Poll

By Adam Roberts – 9/20/2021

Division Three college football did away with their polls after most schools cancelled their fall seasons. Which made the release of this week’s poll that much more exciting for all involved, including our own UWL Eagles.

La Crosse was ranked 22nd in the first Coaches’ Poll of the season today, one of three WIAC teams in the Top 25 behind Whitewater (2) and Oshkosh (7). It should come as no surprise to fans of D3 football that Mary Hardin-Baylor was the top team in the nation this week followed by Whitewater, Mount Union (Ohio), North Central (Illinois), and St. John’s (Minnesota).

The Eagles dropped their contest Saturday against Grand Valley State 45-24, which is by no means a bad loss given the fact that the Lakers were ranked 12th in Division Two coming into the contest.

UWL has a bye this week before WIAC play begins next week Saturday at River Falls. The Falcons are no pushovers so far this year with a 3-0 record that includes a dominant 71-13 win at University of Northwestern (Minnesota) last Saturday.
