We talked about this on The Sports Lead last week, but it was clear entering play yesterday Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer was quite tired of losing, especially after two heartbreakers in the first two weeks of the 2021 season.
For much of their game Sunday against Seattle it looked like the losing would continue, but the the Vikings scored 23 unanswered points to end the game in a 30-17 win over the Seahawks at US Bank Stadium. In their first win of the year, the Vikings gave up early touchdowns to DK Metcalf and Chris Carson that put Seattle up 17-7 halfway through the second quarter, but the Purple took control the rest of the way.
Kirk Cousins completed 30 of his 38 passes for 323 yards and three touchdowns, while Alexander Mattison had 171 yards from scrimmage filling in for an injured Dalvin Cook. Minnesota’s top rushing threat is still dealing with an ankle issue.
The Vikings host the Browns next Sunday, who had a sack clinic against the Bears yesterday.
