Packers Outlast 49ers In SNF Thriller

By Adam Roberts – 9/27/2021

This may only register with a VERY small crowd, but there was an old video on Youtube from years ago where a young boy who was maybe just a little too invested in Sonic the Hedgehog ranted about people who didn’t like a Sonic video game for Playstation. And one of the more memorable quotes from that video was “WHEN WILL YOU LEARN, THAT YOUR ACTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES!?!?”. So why am I bringing this up in an article about the Packers-49ers game last night.

Because I find myself asking that same question to all teams that leave any time for Aaron Rodgers at the end of the game.

Rodgers and the Packers outlasted Jimmy Garoppolo and the 49ers 30-28 in a thriller on Sunday Night Football in Santa Clara. Jimmy G and the Niners took their first lead of the game at 28-27 with just 37-seconds remaining. However, that was more than enough time for Rodgers as he led the Packers on a six-play, 42 yard drive that was capped off by a Mason Crosby 51-yard field goal as time expired.

Rodgers finished 23-of-33 for 261 yards and two touchdowns for Green Bay, which has won two straight after opening the season with a 38-3 loss to the Saints. Davante Adams had a big night with 12 receptions for 132 yards and a score, despite receiving a helmet-to-helmet lick that didn’t get a penalty flag thrown for it.

The Packers host the Steelers on Sunday, who themselves look very beatable following a 24-10 loss to Cincinnati yesterday.
