LolMets gonna LolMet.
After it appeared all but a done deal that Brewers general manager Matt Arnold was on his way to the Big Apple to become the President of Baseball Operations for the New York Mets, the man himself decided not to pursue the job. Adam McCalvy, Will Sammon, and others reported earlier today that Arnold has withdrawn his name from consideration from the job. It’s expected that he will remain with Milwaukee as their general manager.
People following the story, myself included, assumed that Arnold would be okay to speak with the Mets given that the move would be seen as a promotion and not a lateral move. You can’t necessarily blame us for thinking this, since the New York Post reported yesterday that the Mets were in contact with Arnold already.
It now appears that the latest guy who the team had tabbed as their “top target” will turn the team away. They’ve already missed on Theo Epstein, Billy Beane, and David Stearns.
